New single storey rear extension to a semi-detached period property

This project involved internal alterations and new rear extension to a beautiful semi-detached period property. The original cottage style property benefits from many small quirky rooms with differing floor and ceiling levels throughout. The remit from the client on this particular project was to create a new large, light and open modern space to complement and enhance the existing property.

The rear extension housed a new open plan dining and living area linked to a redesigned kitchen space looking out onto the rear garden through large corner style folding sliding doors. The existing front right-hand side of the property was redesigned to incorporate a new utility room with separate toilet. The flat roof of the new extension also includes a stunning lantern style roof light to further bring light into this area.

The exterior finishes of the new extension are what really sets this design off, with an amazing display of modern materials which enhance the buildings original qualities perfectly. We opted for a parapet style flat roof with a large lantern roof light. Additionally, the new corner folding sliding doors bring a truly modern feel to this part of the property without overpowering its original features.

“Chris is friendly, approachable, was always available and very easy to work with. We obviously love our large new kitchen space, but it was the clever design of the smaller spaces that made a huge difference to the usability of the house as a whole; Chris managed to combine two large utility rooms into one smaller space without any compromises. Impressive stuff!”
